Singapore Attraction, The Merlion symbol of Singapore!
The Merlion is it real or it is a myth? The truth is that no one knows but many people like to associate Singapore with the Merion. Today, Merlion is a symbol of Singapore and you can easily find Merlion’s souvenirs merchants at any souvenir shop in Singapore.
The Merlion is half lion and half fish creature; the majestic lion head actually symbolize the re-discovery of Singapore during the early day by Prince Nila Utama and the fish body riding the waves is to symbolize Singapore was once known as Temasek when Singapore is a small fishing village.
The original Merlion was built in 1972 by a local Craftsman, Mr. Lim Nang Seng and it was located at the mouth of Singapore River. The status standing at eight meter tall looking facing out to the sea is to welcome all visitors to Singapore.
In 2002, The Original Merlion has moved to Merlion Park located next to One Fullerton to make way for Esplanade Drive. Now the Merlion look ever more beautiful as it stand at the mouth of the river overlooking Marina Bay.
