Visit Singapore, walking the Historic Zone of Little India!

Little India is just located along Serangoon Road, you won't miss the place. MRT would be a better choose to go visit Little India. You can start your journey from Little India MRT station (exit C).Walk along the walkways of bukit timah road toward Sungei Road and you will come to cross junction, beside on the left hand is the Tekka market. Tekka market is located below of the HDB flat and you can find an integrated hawker center within the same complex.

This is the best place if you looking to buy fresh sea foods. I normally come here to buy live crabs to bring home to cook. And my favourite is Chilli Crabs. Walk down to Buffalo Road, here you can see a stretch of shops selling curry powder and other spices at place too. You can get your all ingredients here.

Next, head down to Race course road for lunch if you hungry, along the road you can find 2 famous curry fish head restaurants. There are Banana Leaf Apolo Restaurant located at No.56 and MUTHU’s Curry located at No. 76.
If you want to try on some traditional Indian costume you can go to this little shop No. 23 at the little India’s arts belt at Kerbau Rd. Take a picture with it and bring it home, your friends will love to see you with costume.

Now, you can head back to Serangoon road, there is a shop call ANADA BHAVAN No. 58 sell the best thosai. And if your stomach still not full, you can try this great Indian food.

Wanting to learn more about Little India, go to this little place call Little India Arcade along Serangoon Road . Over there you can find snapshot of the area’s culture and traditions. I believe you will love this place.

Next to Clive St is Campell Lane, you can find lots of interesting little shops along here selling –handicrafts, garments jewellery and many more…….

Walk along the street you will enjoy the simply life of little India, but it will be crowed when come to weekend. At end of the road you will see Madras St, you turn left to meet Dunlop St, as you walk further down along Dulop St keep a look out for this mosque call MASJID ABDUL GAFOOR , Great architectural styles! You will be surprise to find a church along at Upper Dickson Road.

Walk back to Serangoon Road and if you tired just go in this place call Komalas for cool drink. Take a rest and you can start your journey. If you want to know how spice being grind you can make a right turn down a distance away, at No.2. You can find a big grinder there.

Standing at Serangoon Road, over at the other side of the road you can find An India temple. This temple is built during 1855. And it was say that the temple is dedicated to Kali, the Goddess of Power. You can try walking in and out of the little laneways and go in to all the little shops. Maybe you will find something amazing.

When you finish with all these laneways, head down to Alwi Road you will find a huge department store “ MUSTAFA CENTRE”. It open 24 hour everyday and you can find almost every things here. Shop till you drop!

Go back to Serangoon road and walk further down, here you can find another temple call SRI VADAPATHIRA KALIAMMAN TEMPLE. This temple is dedicated to the deity Kaliamman, the protective motherly spirit from the north who is pure as fire.

Farrer MRT station is couple of minutes from here. You can try walking at the back lane “Race Course Road” you will find two Buddhist Temples and a India temple call SRI SRINIVASA TEMPLE. This temple is dedicated to Lord Perumal, god of mercy and goodness.

Get a copy of Little India Walking guide fro the Singapore visitor Centre. All this information you can find inside the booklet. But you can always try something differ. O r join “ THE ORGINAL SINGAPORE WALK” . You definitely will enjoy the a walk at the little India.
